Dr. Guy Attewell
Dr. Guy Attewell is specialist in history of medicine in South Asia His research areas deal with contemporary postcolonial and colonial histories of medical practices and knowledge, with a focus on Indo-Muslim spheres, and the circulation of medicinal substances through trading networks and colonial encounters. In emerging projects, he is conducting research at the disciplinary boundaries of history and anthropology on those practices which have been marginal to state recognition in India. Through a study on jarrah and bonesetters in southern India, he is interested in the politics of recognition and the processes of innovation and transformation of these healing practices.
